Types of CDS

The Year Round Community Development Service (YRCD)
Corps members are expected to use one day in a week for group CDS activities. The activity is expected to last between 8.00a.m. to 2.00p.m. and in some cases beyond depending on the nature of the project. Corps members are not supposed to go back for their primary assignment duty on CD days. Such days are dedicated to the execution of projects and programmes that will improve the living conditions of host communities of corps members. They are not days to travel out of station. CDS days must be used maximally for the purpose intended.

 Individual Community Development
Corps members working within and with the communities execute personal developmental project(s) in their host communities. This projects which are based on community needs are often the product of the Corps member ingenuity and the implementation is within the entire service year.

Collaborative Community Development
This is a concept of integrated development where the scheme work with National and International NGOs and other establishments with vested interest in development with emphasis on the grass root. The scheme based on her mandate develop an MOU for a clear understanding of roles with such organizations. Selected Corps members on such projects are often expose to a certain level of capacity building/training based on project needs, goal or expected outcome.
